Memorial Day Hike

Join Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park on the Memorial Day Hike. This hike is a great way for you or your immediate family to celebrate Memorial Day and honor those that have given everything for our country. The hike will begin at the park’s Commissary Store at 11 am. The hike will be guided to the North Dakota Veterans Cemetery where hikers are encouraged to attend the 2023 Memorial Day Ceremony at noon. The return hike back to the park will be self-guided.

Hikers will leave the park and take a two-track road to the lawn of the Veterans Cemetery. This route will be moderately level and stroller friendly. Pets are welcome but must be leashed and picked up after. The hike will be approximately 1.25 miles (0.45 to the cemetery). Participants are encouraged to bring a blanket for the ceremony since seating will be limited.

The event is free of charge and open to the public. An annual or daily vehicle permit is required for park entrance and can be purchased online or at the park. In honor of Memorial Day, Fort Abraham Lincoln State Park will host a Military Appreciation Day by offering free park entrance to military members, veterans, and their immediate families to the park and free tours of the Custer House and On-A-Slant Village.
