The Art Bar is a favorite hangout spot among Fargo residents, as it is an exciting and lively social painting venue located conveniently in the heart of West Fargo. During their painting parties, local professional artists gather in the intimate space to teach participants how to improve their painting ability, no matter if they’re starting as a beginner or expert! The painting parties are only open to those 21 or over, as alcohol and light refreshments are served. There are other limited events that are opened to children as well.
The Bismarck Downtown Artist Cooperative is both an art gallery and open studio space for artists and amateurs alike to explore their talents. This art center brings together the community and gives local artists a chance to show off their portfolio. Classes are also offered for a variety of ages working with all kinds of media, such as colored pencil techniques, turn wine bottles into art, long exposure photography, and plenty more! The Plains Art Museum in Fargo is known as one of the most impressive art museums in the state, but the site also sponsors local artistic expression through their public art classes. In this program, students can pursue programs in visual arts, graphic design and new media, visual arts, and art history. This college has the largest art and design department in the upper plains region outside of Minneapolis and are known for their top-tier instruction and hands-on learning opportunities. If art is your passion, consider attending this widely regarded program at the University of North Dakota in Grand Forks.
Williston State College offers programs for adults looking to further their art education. Classes can be taken in a part or full-time basis and there are even some classes that last just an evening, which is perfect for those on a busy schedule. Their most fun classes are in their painting and wine tasting series and include specialties like glitter painting, watercolor, date night, and more.
The Art Center is a lively studio where the Jamestown community can get involved in the arts. This non-profit association has been supporting the art community in Jamestown since 1964. Located in the bustling downtown area, the center has a gallery, performance stage, classroom space, art studio, ceramics studio, and garden. They offer a variety of classes in everything from cheese making to digital photography to painting.

Taube Museum of Art features a selection of art from regional, national, and international artists. Admission to the museum is free, so make sure to check out some of their exciting exhibits. The museum offers classes for children of all ages including classes to explore different artistic mediums, “good night art” in which children are read a bedtime story and create an art project, painting, advanced classes, and summer camps. There are a limited number of adult classes including collage-making classes and painting classes.
North Dakota Museum of Art is one of the best in the region and includes exciting and innovative exhibits like contemporary art from the 1970s onward, visual history of the North Dakota region including contemporary Native American art, and historical art including twentieth century and Native American art.
